If in a bedroom closet with bi-fold doors has drywall that is left overhanging 1/2 an inch to cover the ends of the doors, there is a simple way to finish the ends of the drywall that is overhanging. If you use a j strip there is nothing to screw it into, and it doesn't seem to make sense just to mud it in. Go down to your local hardware store and you can get a 1/2" paper j channel and it is mudded on. It is a metal channel that has paper around it.
