Category: Fireplace - Topic: Add Fireplace House Idea
There is a small trend with new homes these days where normal brick fireplaces are not being installed; but, electronic fireplaces with no real-wood in it are. This is nice and all but does this not really off-set the mood of a real fireplace. Nothing can replace the actual heat that is generated from a real fireplace. Of course sometimes the new fireplaces are just as good to some people as others. Putting a fireplace in a proper room can bring a great deal of value and personality to most any home. A fireplace can add character to a room. It can be a focal point like a gathering place to sit after having a family meal. It can almost become the center piece to the room.
Adding a fireplace is a wonderful idea for any home, but first things first: consult you insurance company. Most home insurance companies can tell you whether a fireplace in your home is legal or not. A lot of insurance companies will not cover anybody unless their fireplace is installed by a professional. When determining where to put the fireplace there are many things to consider. The traffic of the room, window and door placement and how the ventilation in the room is, are all factors. Certain retailers have corner fireplaces that take up a smaller amount of the room. Wood fireplaces need a firebox and a chimney so consider all the placement issues related to that. Gas fireplaces will need a gas line running to it so consider getting a permit if need be. Once you've established where to put the fireplace begin taking measurements. Once measured see if you have enough room for your various supplies (brick surround, hearth, vents and mantle). The next part is all planning. Establish a timeline to start and finish, and make it believable to how your daily schedule works. Consult a local contractor on all of your timeline plans for the best advice at how to tackle the rest of this.
