Category: Cabinets - Topic: Adjust Clamp Jaws Wood

Many a wood worker or carpenters use a c-clamp. They are mainly used to hold pieces of wood that need to be held for more time then to be held by human hands. A lot of the time it is holding pieces of wood with glue or other adhesives on it. This is a very simple tool that you can buy at any hardware store. Adjusting the jaws to this tool can be even simpler.

Begin by bringing out the two pieces of wood that you will be bringing together. As well bring out two pieces of scrap wood. These two scrap wood pieces will go into the pieces of wood you want to put together and the clamps themselves. This is important because pressure can reach low points; but, most importantly they can also have high points of pressure. The scrap pieces of wood will take off some of the pressure, but be sure to even out the area you are clamping. You don’t want to have any dents or cracks break into the pieces of wood.

Now place the clamps together with the different wood pieces. There may be some preparing once or before you do this because you will be working with some sort of adhesive. Prep the clamps with the pieces of scrap wood. Then get your adhesive ready by putting it into the appropriate areas (depending on what you are clamping). Slowly move the clamps’ handle clockwise. The screw in the clamp will move towards your object being clamped. Don’t squeeze too hard and stop moving clockwise when the pressure seems correct. Let your adhesive have enough time to dry and move the handle counter-clockwise to loosen your object. Once this is achieved you can do the same for other objects to complete your wood working experience.
