Basement humidity can be a serious issue for many homes. Humidity is caused when moisture is naturally created from the basements depth and when a basement leak exists. You can expect that in most basements there will be some moisture. If significant moisture exists, you may begin to notice a "white film" or mold/mildew growing in basement. To detect mold you may be able to find it in dark corners, smell it, or find discoloration along the edges of your basement walls.
