Category: Carpet - Topic: Laying Carpet On A New Hardwood Floor
Soundproofing your home from neighbors and tenants will not only make your apartment or condo more valuable, it will also make your life more enjoyable. If you plan on laying carpet and cannot remove the current hardwood floor or get under the joists, it is certainly not recommended to glue the carpet to the existing hardwood floor. Gluing the carpet to the floor will allow for further damage to the floor when the carpet is eventually removed. Stapling the new carpet will also damage the hardwood floor. Rather, what you may want to do it lay the carpet unglued with underpadding underneath. Then staple the carpet to the baseboards and use some heavy duty double sided tape in areas where the carpet may curl.
