Category: Waterproofing - Topic: Water Leaking Into Basement
After a hard rain, or extende period of rainfall, some home owners see
water in there basement. Several steps need to be taken to pinpoint and fix the problem.
Make sure the exterior drainage is working properly; the downspouts may have to be extended away from the house, and the grade should be examined to ensure it
slopes properly and away from the house. If the problem is immediate,
temporary pipes may be installed to draw away excess drainage. If adding extended drainage does not stop the water in the basement, there might be a leak stemming from a crack in the walls. A stain in the drywall would indicate the source of leakage,
and provide a reasonable place to remove drywall and investigate.
