There are a few major factors to consider when bringing a television into the bedroom. Where you install the television will make all the difference in its integration into the design of the rest of the room, and how comfortable you are when watching it. Consider a built-in television to keep the TV from becoming the focal point of the room, or a distraction when you're not in the mood to watch it. These devices have become quite popular and can be installed to rise from the foot of the bed, and automatically fold and slide under the bed with the touch of a button for the most convenient storage imaginable. These methods typically require flat-panel televisions. Comfort is the most important aspect when introducing a new element into your bedroom. A television should always be placed at an angle, and should never be placed at the foot of the bed. Tall dressers and wall mounts are the best solutions. Surround sound may seem like the noisiest option, but it will actually keep you from turning the television up to hear it from across the room. Place speakers on either side of the bed on night stands to give volume control to you and your partner for nights when you're not on the same sleeping schedule. Wireless headphones also offer your partner a chance to catch some Z's while you catch the evening news. Watching television in total darkness can strain your eyes, so have a lamp nearby to create a glow in the room- and again, place one on the nightstands on either side of the bed so your partner can sleep in peace while you read or watch television. Installing a dimmer, a clamp, or a reading lamp will also do the job.
