These days ceiling fans have become more popular with the Green movement. It is almost estimated that a ceiling fan can save up to 60 percent on energy then running an air conditioner. Besides that ceiling fans can also be very stylish. No one person needs to have a sterile-looking ceiling fan like you would see in some 1950's hospital movie. Ceiling fans with a light can bring a level of comfort to any room or setting. A lot of restaurants use ceiling fans as a way to set a level of ambience.

The first step to making your room have the air coolness of a ceiling fan is to brace it. Always consult your instructions when starting this process. If the fan did not come with any instructions with how to brace it call a local electrician for the best recommendation of starting this process. One of the most important things to do is always turn off the power in the area you are working in. Ceiling fans are wonderful to have; but, it would be better to be enjoyed if not electrocuted. Once the power to the working area is off, carefully remove the fixture that was there before, and safely disconnect the wiring. Now, if able to, try and install a 2 x 4 between the ceiling joists to hold up the workbox and the weight of the fan. If this can be done from the installation site: go for it. If not just try and do it from the attic. If not able to from the attic just attach a metal brace in the area and the workbox should attach to the brace securing it safely. Once that is attached in place just make sure that the brace and workbox are steady. You have just braced your ceiling fan.
