Proper lighting in the bathroom can prevent shadows, and be an important part of the usefulness of bathroom grooming and primping. If you intend to install lighting in your showers, use recessed fixtures constructed to operate safely in humid environments, and light bulbs rated to be used in a shower.

For lighting a vanity, use lower power bulbs that are on top of or along side of your vanity mirror; using low watt bulbs helps to send out a diffuse light source which blends into the ambient lighting, but at the same time illuminates the mirror. If you plan on hanging overhead chandeliers, be sure to size the chandelier properly- consult a lighting professional with any questions on size- but most bathroom chandeliers are 2-3 feet in diameter.

As a safety reminder, consider using a night lite in the bathroom for safe late night bathroom use.
