Category: Lighting - Topic: Lighting Fixtures Do Break
Lighting fixtures will break after a period of time. Fixtures that have pull switches from a string are even more likely to be damaged. Over time the hanging pull will apply pressure to the switch and cause eroding damage over a long period of time. To remedy this problem, there are replacement parts you can purchase to take preventative measures against this problem. If you're hanging pull fixture stops working open the fixture and test it at the point where the pull string meets the fixture. If the fixture still doesn’t work and you’re confident the bulb works (test in another fixture), it’s time to purchase a new fixture.
If you plan on installing the new fixture make note of the electrical hookup when removing the old fixture. Also, make sure that your electricity is turned off when working with the lighting fixture.
