Category: Lighting - Topic: Installing And Insulating Pot Lights

Whether it is your bathroom or kitchen pot lights are a great way to add value and style to your home. Pot lights, however, must be installed and insulated correctly to ensure that drafty air doesn’t easily enter your home. If you have already installed pot lights and are experiencing a draft, you may want to remove the lights and create an insulated wooden box around the lights (depending on whether insulation can be placed directly on your pot lights). Caulking around the plywood box and or/insulation is an excellent way to stop the air flow from your pot lights. If you have pot lights that can be directly insulated around without having to create a box, ensure the insulation is caulked around the walls.
