Mold on your windows is a result of moisture, condensation and lack of insulation. In most households, however, the mold we be noticed very early. When mold is first detected, it is important the mold is removed properly and preventative steps are taken to ensure the mold does not return.
When cleaning the mold of your windows and window sills the best solution is to use a bleach/water solutions that is 1 part bleach to 1 part water. Use as many applications (at least two) to completely remove all presence of the mold.
After the mold has been removed off the windows its important to take preventative measures to ensure the mold doesn't return. If there is a budget for re-insulation and caulking, call a local window professional to get this job done. If you cant get the re-caulking done, prime the window with an oil based (not latex) primer. Using quality primer is well worth the additional cost. Paint the seals over with a semi or high gloss paint. Finish the project by placing a clear silicone based mildew/mold resistant. Taking these steps should ensure the mold doesn't return.
If the mold begins to return shortly thereafter, you house could have more serious problems. Call a mold remediation professional immediately as mold can be very unhealthy to breath.
