If you have water in your basement it may be nesecarry to first check for low spots around your basement outside. These low spouts, or continous grade, will often be the problem to your leaky basement. One quick fix it to reroute these downspouts to another drain or directly away from your house. A little DIY expertise with some stripping and a shovel will help the problem. Also, soil mounds could be created to divert running water. Water will always run with the path of least resistance.
