Category: Basement-Refinishing - Topic: Basement Remodeling Moving Load Barriers

Your basement (if you have one if your home) will have a variety of load sharing posts that hold up the structure and secure the foundation of your house. These load structures should never be removed, replaced, or moved in your basement. Moving these load barring posts will severely impact the safety of your family and the long term foundation of the home. If a load structure has to be moved, your insurance inspector and contractor must be part of this process. The insurance inspector must approve the move, often with a structural engineer and the contractor will be able to consult you on your basement remodel.
