Category: Basement-Refinishing - Topic: Do Not Choose Hardwood Floor In Your Basement

Installing true hardwood in your basement may not be the best choice for basement flooring. Solid hardware is very unstable around moisture and you can be pretty sure that your basement will contain moisture. Rather than a pure hardwood, consider a engineered hardware that can retain moisture without warping or shaping. Typically this type of hardwood is combined with a laminate core that can combat moisture and will not be damaged in typical basement conditions. A good rule of thumb is: whenever moisture can exist, laying hardwood floors isn't a good choice for flooring.
