When an excess burning smell comes from your vacuum and you have opened it up, and the rubber is broken, and is replaced and it repeats to smell, the belt may be over heating and breaking. There is normally a restriction on the drive part of your vacuum, which causes the belt to heat and break. Your appliance most likely needs an overhaul by an experienced technician to resolve the problem.
