Category: Appliances - Topic: Adjust Air Compressor Correctly

Air compressors can be used for many-a-job and are helpful when you need them. Air compressors range from various sizes from small (arm held) to large (having wheels on it to move easily). Some are so big though that they have to be mounted on tanks in the garage. Adjusting the regulator on a person's air compressors can be easily done.

First plug in your air compressor. Depending on the size of your air compressor it may come with either a 3 or 4-pronged plug. Depending on the plug and outlet you may have around move or adjust your air compressor so that it may be plugged in. Then turn on the air compressor. Have the air compressor fill completely depending on the unit's capacity; this can be between 100 and 200 per-square inches. Always consult the manufacturer's guide to check on the tools that you will be using when at full pressure. Connect the tools you were informed to use to the air hose and the air hose compressor. Then use the regulator adjustment knob and adjust air pressure. Move it clock-wise to bring pressure up or counter clock-wise to bring the air pressure down. Remember air pressure can fluctuate drastically so turn the knob carefully and slowly. Older air compressors may draw a lot or amps and may cause such accidents as causing breakers to pop or turn off. This most likely might happen if the air compressor is hooked up to a GFCI or a ground fault-circuit interrupt. Also take note that some air compressors may need oil. Make sure you have the right amount in it to avoid any accidents as well. Once your desired setting has been chosen, you have just learned how to use your air compressor regulator. Check on your air compressor semi-regularly to ensure good up keep.
