Pests in a garden are pretty common. Insects and plants are so common with each other that they should be expected. Ladybugs may look beautiful but some insects spread disease and chew at your good plants. That's why insecticides are very important. Most of the time you have seen somebody spraying specialized plants or normal scrubs; that is insecticide being used. For this task you will be using a pressurized garden sprayer.
Test the sprayer first by filling it with water. Then pump the sprayer and see if the nozzle at the tip is not clogged. Just remember to unscrew the lid slightly and the pressure will release. Take off the lid and keep the water inside. Insecticide can be purchased at most garden specialty stores. Read the instructions to make sure you are putting in the right amount for your specified plant. Mix the specified amount with the left over water and see how much room is left inside. Put only enough more water in to even out the mixture. The top then can go back on, just don't cross the threads, and make sure it is on as tight as can be. Increase the pressure to the tank and begin spraying the plants.
When spraying make sure to spray top and bottom where insects like to hide. Just remember to wear protective clothing like safety goggles, respirator, neoprene gloves and long sleeves. Always empty out the tank when finished. Never leave any insecticide inside. Just clean the tank over a dirt area and avoid cleaning it onto any concrete or in a sink. Cleaning the tank may only take three washes. Don't dump the water when you clean it. Spray the water out of the nozzle tip and away from anybody. Just remember when applying the insecticide to do so when insects are feeding. Usually this is during the early morning or evening. Only spray plants that are infested.
