Category: Paint-Painting - Topic: Paint Bubbling From Flooding

Upstairs bathrooms sometimes flood, and water seeps downstairs or along walls and ceiling causing bubbles of water on the walls and ceilings. Home owners often try and burst the bubbles to dry the walls where water has collected, but the problem of stretched paint remains. The solution that many find satisfactory is to remove the paint that has bubbled and blistered, and then repaint the walls and/or ceilings. Start by peeling any loose paint and then sand the edges of the damaged area. Next apply a coat of primer to the affected spots on the walls and then apply ea that peeled before painting. One thing to remember is that once drywall has been soaked through it will not hold paint like newer drywall and the paint will likely continue to bubble and dislodge. If you want to remove the headache permanently, replace the drywall and then repaint the entire wall or the whole room.
