Painting lawn furniture should be done in a well ventilated area or outside in a yard. If you have to remove paint off the wood use a wire brush, then finish with medium grade sand paper. All dirt and rust must be removed before painting or staining. Today, you can add a deglosser before you paint to dull the surface. Paint the furniture with two coats, allowing the first to dry before applying the second. If the lawn furniture will remain outside or in a garage, add primer to keep the paint from rusting.
