If you live in a home that was built in the past 40 to 60 years, your water is probably deliverd in copper pipe tubing. The best piping material for water pipes is copper; it lasts a long time in the water medium resistant to hard deposit build ups which can diminish the amount of water flowing through the pipes. A sign of quality construction is the use of copper piping. Prior to copper, iron was the standard in residential construction, but its heaviness made iron difficult to work with. In addition, iron pipes needed special pipe threading tools to work with. If replacements to home pipes are needed, the best choice is copper.
