Category: Air-Conditioning - Topic: Air Conditioning & Smoke Odor

Most new tenants that move into an apartment complex may smell the odor of cigarette smoke coming from their central air (air conditioner not heater). If this odor does smell like cigarette smoke, and it is coming from the vents, the cause of this may be the former tenants. Most often the smoke odor will line the inside of the blower unit and duct, causing it to stick around. Unfortunately, the residual odor is very hard to get rid of. The only thing that most air conditioning repairmen would really advise is to make sure the air filter is clean.
