A common question is how to extending the life of
an air conditioning unit. A very small investment in time and energy will extend the life of your air conditioner. Keep in mind that dust stresses the fan and compressor motor, reducing efficiency and the life span of the unit- so keep them clear of dust.
Try and clean the compressor spring and summer.
To do this, shut off power to the unit, remove the front panel, and undo the panel that supports the fan and fan motor. Carefully lift the fan and clean out any dirt and debris. Then remove the shroud from around the coil. Brush away the dust blanket and vacuum it up. To finish maintenance, lubricate any oil ports.
