Category: Air-Conditioning - Topic: Furnace Pilot Going Out

Most often when pilot lights in your furnace keep going out it may be a simple occurrence like a slider may be acting up. Sliders should never leak inside your house, but it is common to see water in the channel where the window slides. If these holes get clogged or stuffed up even further with dirt you will have problems with water leaking and possibly seeping into the inside of your house. A casement window is more energy efficient as well as very 'green' these days than a slider. The water should drain out of this channel through drain holes on each side of the channel. Most often these channels should still not be drafty. Doing so should make it easier for your pilot light, as well as keeping it from going out so much.
