In outdoor 3 ton "heat pump units" that switch between air conditioning and heating, it's very important to monitor that the unit is switching over correctly and efficiently. If the unit is not, there are some easy solutions to this problem. Attached to the unit is a "reversing valve" Inside the reversing valve is a part called a Solenoid. The Solendiod provides the unit the ability to hold it's cold air flow throughout the cooling process. When the Soldeniod malfunctions and breaks the unit would be unable to switch over from heat to cool. Replacing the Solanoid is a quick solution for solving this problem.
